The history of FG Manufacturing is rooted in over 28 years of industry leadership within the South African market. Pål Hansen introduced the first Scandinavian Frameless Glass System to South Africa. Originally operating as a single company, the organisation was responsible for the entire lifecycle of frameless glass products—from the initial design and fabrication to the final installation at residential and commercial sites. In the current market configuration, FG Manufacturing operates exclusively as a manufacturer and supplier.
This strategic pivot allows the company to direct its full attention toward the refinement of its signature systems, the FG01 and FG03, as well as other hardware products, ensuring that every component produced in its Cape Town facility meets the highest standards of precision and durability. FG Manufacturing now serves as the technical backbone for a growing network of accredited agents and existing aluminium and balustrade companies, providing them with ready-to-install systems that have been engineered for strength and performance in South African weather conditions.

FG Manufacturing is AAAMSA Certified
In the South African industry, adherence to the standards set by the Association of Architectural Aluminium Manufacturers of South Africa (AAAMSA) is the primary indicator of a manufacturer’s commitment to quality. FG Manufacturing’s systems are not only designed to meet these standards but are actively tested to exceed them. The FG03 system, for instance, has been tested and approved by AAAMSA to a height of 2.7 meters, making it the only frameless glass system in the country with such a certification for use as a primary application.
This certification is critical for projects where the frameless system serves as the main exterior envelope of the building. Compliance with SANS 10400 ensures that the system has undergone rigorous testing for air infiltration, water penetration, and structural strength. For designers and engineers, this provides the necessary assurance that the aesthetic choice of frameless glass systems does not come at the expense of building performance or occupant safety. The commitment to safety is further evidenced by the exclusive use of toughened glass, which is manufactured to withstand significant impact and pressure.
